Ministry of Truth Timely Update - 20 Nov 2024 - Meme Moderation

Meme Moderation

A meme is what the Ministry of Truth says a meme is, otherwise it cannot be approved for public distribution.  Since they are the sole arbiter of what constitutes a valid meme, no appeals are allowed.  An approved meme must be obviously funny or bring an immediate laugh to the loyal masses.  While targeting the fascist right is clearly allowed, satire, dry humor, exposés, or mockery of Big Brother’s policies are forbidden.  Just because they are "a meme", does not mean that they cannot also be misinformation, and so must also pass the fact checking moderators.  We know a bad meme when we see one.  Free speech is protected in this way.

***   The modern-day definition of a meme is a humorous image, video, piece of text, or GIF that is spread across the internet, typically on social media, and often with slight variations. Memes can be created by anyone and can be about anything, from current events, to mundane tasks, to pop culture references. (Google AI)
