He is Risen!
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
Paul - 1 Corinthians 15:14-19
Resurrection Morning TLDR
- Christianity NOT a blind faith, but faith based in evidence.
- We should believe because it is true, not because we want it to be true.
- There are good reasons to trust the reliability of the NT documents.
- If we can trust what they say, then we have good reason to trust what they say about Jesus.
- If we can trust what they say about Jesus, then we have to deal with the implication of a man who claimed to be the Son of God.
- If true, this is of utmost importance, since the Son of God has called us to follow him.
- Given all of the evidence, the best explanation is that Jesus was a historical person who lived about 2000 years ago. He claimed to be God, and proved it by his resurrection.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17
