Box Theory

This is a newly espoused concept in modern dating.  It arises spontaneously when meeting a potential match, but may present differently depending on the relative genders of the participants.  For example, when men meet women in a romantic setting, they tend to put them in one of several potential "boxes":  

• They want to date them
• They want to sleep with them 
• They want to have nothing to do with them

It is said to be hard to get out of the box, just like getting out of the "friendzone" for guys.  Dating is hard, and so is knowing if their potential partners check all the boxes and are relationship material, … if they are looking for more than a hookup.
