To achieve global compliance with world government mandates, Big Brother has agreed to binding international rules on businesses, enforced by the Ministry of Love.  These will encourage adherence in 

• reducing/reversing biodiversity loss
• limiting water/land consumption 
• prohibiting certain kinds of "disinformation" 
• guaranteeing rights for labor unions
• adopting climate transition plans that phase out fossil fuels

among numerous other requirements that would be resisted by greedy corporations.

An aspect of environmental inequality that greatly harms the disadvantaged and minorities due to the disparate impacts of climate change.  Those without white privilege lack adequate access to cooling islands, chilled drinking water, and technological heat mitigation systems.  This may cause the at-risk individuals to use dangerous 19th century technology like hats, fans, and wet washcloths, to drink non-bottled water, and to spend time seeking shade outside.
